♻️ Doing Our Bit: How Harvestwear Supports Responsible Recycling ♻️

Sustainability in every stitch — and now, every strap.

At Harvestwear, we're proud to make some of the most durable picking bags in the world — gear built to last season after season, even across generations. But long life is only one part of the sustainability story.

Behind the scenes, we're also committed to responsible sourcing and recycling, and we're excited to share more about a key part of that journey.

🔄 Closing the Loop with Vision Plastics

We've partnered with Vision Plastics NZ, a specialist plastic processor based in Silverdale, to help divert plastic from landfill and reduce our impact.

Vision Plastics transforms discarded rotationally moulded plastic — like tanks, floats, and troughs — into polyethylene powder that’s used to make new products. Every kilo of recycled plastic means one less kilo of imported virgin resin. That’s a win for the environment, and for smarter business.

This means that some of the components in our Harvestwear bags — including selected plastic fittings and backframes — are now made using recycled material sourced through this programme. It’s strong, reliable, and already proving itself in the field.

💬 Why It Matters

Most people don’t think twice about the plastics in their work gear — but we do.

We want to ensure that the materials used in our products come from sources that value the planet as much as we do. That’s why we’re proud to support a local recycling operation, giving second life to plastic products that would otherwise be dumped, burned, or forgotten.

It’s not just about reusing waste — it’s about building better products with purpose.

🌱 Small Footprint. Long Life. Big Impact.

At Harvestwear, we believe sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s a responsibility. From designing bags that last for years, to integrating recycled materials and minimising packaging, we’re constantly asking: What more can we do?

We’re not perfect — but we’re making real progress. And with partners like Vision Plastics, we’re proving that even small changes can make a big difference.
